AHC modeller makes the headlines

A leading pensions news channel has highlighted the power of AHC modellers in member engagement with AVCs.

The latest schemeXpert.com e-newsletter explains how the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) invested in benefits modeller to communicate the advantages of AVCs in topping up retirement savings.

AHC developed the modelling tool in partnership with USS, as part of a suite of communications, including website updates, factsheets and new videos for the USS pensions TV channel.

USS need to bring AVCs to the attention of its membership – those working in higher education – because of the nature of academics’ employment contracts and breaks in service.

schemeXpert.com positions this use of technology against a backdrop of more organisations moving to defined contribution schemes and needing to encourage members to consider AVCs as a way of boosting their retirement income.

Colin Busby, communications manager at USS, said: “AVCs are also a way of planning an early retirement and can be used to counter the effects of benefit changes reducing future expectations."

"The modeller is useful for the added years option because it shows the cost and benefit very clearly.”

The modeller can be viewed here. More information about the range of AHC modellers is available on our website.
